We need your support for a very worthwhile cause!
This July C3 Community & Code3 DEI are launching the Diverse Books Drive. Our fundraising goal is $1000, which will be matched 100% by Code3!
Inspired by our AAPI Dialogue event with Serena Li, founder of Duck Duck Books, we’ve chosen to support the mission of increasing representation in literature because every child does deserve to see themselves. We’re excited to share that for we’ll be holding a fundraiser for the month of July to raise money for We Need Diverse Books.
Who Is We Need Diverse Books?
We Need Diverse Books is a grassroots organization that works to transform children’s publishing by:
-
The Native Children’s and YA Writing Intensive manuscript and career development to Native/First Nations writers.
-
Educators Making a Difference Grants for educators who believe in the importance of incorporating diverse books by diverse authors into their schools, libraries, and educational organizations.
-
LitUp provides five emerging writers with an all-access paid retreat, a three-month mentorship with a published author, and marketing support for Reese’s Book Club
-
Mentorship for Black Creatives one-on-one mentorship and programming.
-
WNDB in the Classroom provides free diverse books to low-income schools around the country. This program was created to address the literacy gap that affects marginalized youth. By helping children find stories and authors that they can relate to, we can help foster in them a lifelong love of reading.
